The Secret of the Rope

by Joe Vitale on November 30, 2007

joe-vitale-015.jpg I don’t think my personal trainer, Scott York, believed me when I wrote a while back that I finally climbed the fifteen foot rope out by my gym. I’ve been travelling and we haven’t seen each other for a while.

When he saw me climb the rope the other day, and took this picture of me up it, he kept muttering, “That’s amazing!”

He knew how much the rope challenged me.

He patiently waited while I tried again and again, over the last months, to go up that rope tower.

His belief in me is priceless.

A secret to success is to have people around you who believe in you almost more than you do.

I created my Miracles Coaching program for this reason. We all need to get clear of the inner blocks to success and we all need encouragement and support.

That’s why I have Scott on my side.

And that’s why the rope is no longer an issue in my life.

Ao Akua,

Hey Joe,
I totally understand what you are saying. I feel the same way about my coach! I have been “stuck” on some of the silliest things, small issues… After words I look back and can’t believe how difficult I’ve unconsciously made things for myself. Having someone who knows that you CAN do it and believes in you is priceless!

That’s awesome Joe.

I have a climbing rope in my backyard as well and it’s one of my favorite training tools :)

It takes some really good grip strength to hold onto that bad boy for any extended amount of time.

Here’s something fun that I like to do. When you get to the top of the rope, do some hanging leg raises for some added toughness to the exercise.

Congratulations Joe for this great achievement !!! And thanks for sharing this story with us, as usual your words are so true. But what can you do when there are no people around you who believe in you or at least do not exteriorize it?

Ah – what a fun day that was!

We’re going to need a longer rope…

Good job, Joe!

Well done Joe, I bought all the fitness videos you did with Scott. I entered the challenge but got ill half way through for 3 weeks which prevented me from completing it and winning a trip to meet you.

I hope one day to meet you

Peace

Jon

Joe,

this resonates with me. I have been attempting specific routes on my rock climbing wall here in Singapore, and last week and this week, I made it up these routes that had me stumped for months.

Plus I’ve been read and am reading Zero Limits over again. The book spoke to me and its not a co-incidence I picked it up in Jakarta during a visit recently. As I climbed I kept saying I love you, and it made the climb more enjoyable.

Thank you Ao Akua.

Gosh!

I know what achievements can feel like when you get them.

OK, so I design stuff and I try to make certain I get out and about (away from the computer) everyday.

Looking for inspiration, I decided to have a gander at YouTube…

Saw some great music, typical concert footage, then a tune I heard sparked a memory which led me to type in a log lost favourite song.

I was stunned. The video I clicked on was not the song, even though it was in it, no, this video blew my mind.

I’ve posted some up on my blog at http://igotthemusic.com

The thing that impressed me about what I saw in the video was the fact that you didn’t need any special equipment (not even a rope) and with enough training nearly everybody could do it.

I’m currently making some designs which I hope capture the beauty and elegance of a traceur perfoming parkour!
